Breakfast in Ghent with Kids: Our Favorite Family-Friendly Spots

Hi! I’m Helena, a Belgian mom exploring the world with my kids. I love finding places where both parents and children can truly enjoy themselves — especially when it comes to food. In this post, I’m sharing my favorite places in and around Ghent where you can enjoy a relaxing breakfast while your little ones play, explore, or even shop for toys. Because a warm coffee and happy kids? Yes please. Let’s dig in!

Warm coffee and happy kids at Zelda & Zorro

Want to start your day slowly and drink your coffee while it’s still warm? Then Zelda & Zorro is your place. This lovely café serves breakfast for the whole family, and the kids can enjoy the indoor playroom while you enjoy a peaceful bite. A perfect morning for everyone!

Eat and play (and maybe shop) at De Speelfontein

De Speelfontein is a charming wooden toy shop that also sells eco-friendly kids’ clothing — but every last Sunday of the month, it turns into a cozy family brunch spot. While you enjoy delicious bites, your kids can play in the fun corners of the store… and maybe spot a few wishlist items too 😉

Breakfast at STAMcafé and then museum fun

A tasty breakfast next to one of Ghent’s most kid-friendly museums? Yes, please. STAMcafé, located at the STAM city museum, offers daily breakfast and even a picnic basket option if you want to eat outside. And if you’re up for a little culture after your meal — the STAM museum itself is interactive and great with children.

Prullenbos: Green escape just outside Ghent

Looking for a nature escape? Head to Prullenbos in Wetteren, just outside Ghent. You can enjoy breakfast in a peaceful, green setting while your kids play freely outdoors. The venue often hosts family-friendly events too, so be sure to check their website before visiting.

I hope this helped you find the perfect breakfast spot for your next family outing in Ghent!
