Ouddorp by the Dutch coast: the best family activities

Tucked away on the edge of Zuid Holland, right next to Zeeland, Ouddorp is a hidden gem for families. Think wide sandy beaches, cosy restaurants, a charming village, and plenty of activities to keep both kids and parents smiling. Let me take you on a little tour of our favourite spots in and around Ouddorp.

Step Back in Time at RTM Tram Museum

All aboard! At the RTM Tram Museum in Ouddorp, you can explore beautifully preserved historic trams inside and out. But the real magic? Climbing aboard a century-old train for a scenic one-hour ride along the coast. A uniformed volunteer even comes by to punch your ticket — just like in the old days.

Our kids (4 and 7) found the ride a little long, but us adults loved every minute 🙂

Stay & Play: Ouddorp’s Best Holiday Parks

De Klepperstee

This is holiday park heaven: a natural swimming pond, huge outdoor and indoor playgrounds, great cafés, and daily activities for children — all open to non-guests too.

Landal Strand Resort Ouddorp Duin
Imagine a giant playground nestled in the dunes, a cosy indoor play area for rainy days, and even a “mini village” with a supermarket (open on Sundays!), an ice cream stand, and a restaurant. Craft workshops, mini disco nights with Bollo the Bear, and kid-friendly snacks like mini pancakes make it a sure hit.

Market Day Magic

Every Tuesday morning, the centre of Ouddorp comes alive with market stalls selling fresh bread, cheese, fish, and colourful local produce. Perfect for picking up picnic supplies and strolling through the village shops.

Playground De Flipjes

A local legend! For just €2.50 per person, your kids can play all day in this cheerful outdoor playground. There are toilets, vending machines, and picnic tables — though on busy days, a picnic blanket might be the smarter choice.

Meet the Goats at De Mekkerstee

Even if you’re not a “farm person,” this goat farm will win you over. Kids can run around the outdoor playground, meet goats and other small animals, and maybe even spot something special — like the newborn bunny we saw!

Inside, you can visit the goat stalls and learn how milk, cheese, and even ice cream are made. The farm café serves treats made from their own goat’s milk, and the gift shop is full of artisanal goodies.

Have fun on your beach holiday!
